Week7

My strengths this week was being a setter I was able to pass it to one of my team mates so they could successfully get it over the net to get a point.
A weakness was a serve, I wasn’t able to hit the ball to the other side of the net. This is important because a serve is needed to start a rally with both teams.
I was able to set targets and hit them to get the point.

A threat for this week was that when we went into the sports hall for the lesson the floor was wet after it had been cleaned this meant we had to be careful as we were going to get the ball, this made it hard because you slipped easily.

An opportunity is that if i go to the gym and take part in strength and conditioning this can improve things like my speed, this then improves my defending, as i can quickly run the wear the space is and get the ball.

Week 5

My strength was being able to keep a rally going as a team,this was a strength because it helped us score more points during the game and you could also use any technique including the set,dig and spike. A weakness during the game was communication, on many occasion other people on my team could’ve got the shot or I could’ve, but because we didn’t communicate we ran into each other and both tried to take the shot

A threat during this lesson was that i wasn’t very fit as i got injured on the following day at football training on the night time, this caused me not to play as well as i wasn’t quick enough to go to where the shot was this made the team loose points as i wasn’t playing my best.

An opportunity i could take is that I can observe from other people such as teachers and also volleyball players this will help me as i can learn the game of volleyball more.

I can improve my communication with my team mates by getting to know them more, this will help because it can build teamwork and make it more positive. This link shows how important communication is in volleyball, if you didn’t have communication you would have more than one player going for the same ball, it can cause injuries and it can also cause your team too loose points as you don’t know who’s going for it and no one could get contact to it.

Week 4, spike

My strengths this week was that I was able to hit the ball with power and also with the correct part of my hand, then I had the right foot positioning, this helped me have success in the spike.

My weakness for the spike was my jump, when i was doing the spike, i ran towards the net but then i jumped too late and it also made me touch the net which is not allowed, therefore i missed the ball as i went up to get it.

An opportunity I have is that my teacher is qualified and it means that I can observe them so I can learn from them and improve in the technique I do for each shot. I can also access videos from others that can help me see what I do wrong during the technique and i can then improve on it.

A threat that affected me was that I train on a Wednesday night and I done a fitness related training session, this meant that I was then quite tired and my arms and legs were sore, this meant that I didn’t put as much effort in.

To improve on my jump during the spike I can watch different videos of volleyball games and watch how others do it, then i can look back at mine and see what extra techniques i need to do so i do it correctly. Week 3, set,dig and serve

This week I have been focusing on the preparation, execution and the recovery of the sets, digs, serve.

My strengths for this week are the preparation of each, I have been able to get ready for each one such as, getting into a squat position and getting my hands in the certain position that they need to be in so I can succeed in the shot.

My weaknesses are that when I do either the set or dig I need to make sure my right foot is in front first so it is easier to pass it to one of my teammates.

An opportunity I have is that I can watch videos on YouTube of competitive games so that it can help me improve in my techniques for each shot.

A threat that could effect me when i’m attending training is the public transport, they might be running late which makes me late for the lesson and it causes me to miss the key objectives for the lesson and also the warm up.

To be able to improve on my weakness i need to be able to have my body in the right position, to improve on this i can get tips of a qualified teacher who knows the game of volleyball well. By doing this it can increase my knowledge on how to them correctly.

Looking at this can help me improve because it gives you more detail on how to position your body when hitting the ball, this means that it gives me step-by-step instructions so i can follow each on and practice them.

Introduction to volleyball, Week 1 and Week 2.

During the introduction, my strengths was my hand positioning during the sets and digs, I was able to complete both, this is because I had the right technique. Power was a strength that helped me write a set and dig successfully. This week my weakness was communication, this was because all of the people on my team went for the ball at the same time. An opportunity my tutor is a qualified volleyball coach and it allows us to do research and also watch videos of competitive games
My strength from this weeks session is the underarm serve this is because I used the right technique and I also got power onto the shot, my weakness would be the over arm serve this is because I wasn’t able to get the ball over the net because of my technique. An opportunity I had was that I was able to watch videos and do research on volleyball games. A threat during the session was that at the beginning the sports hall was wet, this meant that someone could’ve fell over and it could’ve been dangerous.

To improve my weakness I can watch videos based on the technique, this will help me understand the steps on how to do and this will therefore help me improve the over arm serve as i will know the technique and i will get more power on the shot so it can go over the net.
